Our Aims
Our aim is simple - to raise sufficient funds to enable the Lifeboat Community Project to be set up and function in West Yorkshire.
What is it for ?
The Lifeboat Community Project has been formed to purchase an already existing playcentre in Ossett, West Yorkshire. Over the last 10 years, many thousands of children and families have visited it. Lifeboat believes that this is a fantastic outreach opportunity, to live out Christian service in the community.
What will they do ?
There are huge problems facing many families today. Debt, loneliness, education, childcare, relationship breakdown, the list goes on. Whether people need a listening ear from someone who cares, or need help to access resources and services, or need prayer, lifeboat aims to empower them.
Is it just for Christians then ?
No! it's not just for Christians, it's for everybody, regardless of race, colour, creed, age, those of faith and those with none. It is run by Christians, who believe passionately in service, outreach and living out the Christian ideal. It's not about preaching, it's about showing Christ's love by loving. We are not here to judge, we're here to serve the community.
So anyone can contribute ?
Absolutely yes! If you are not a christian, but you believe the things we are trying to achieve are worthwhile, we would be delighted for you to become a part of the vision.
Why 1000christians ?
The figure we need to raise is around £60,000, which is a lot to ask people for. So we are asking a thousand Christians for a £60 donation.
A £60 donation would ultimately make you part of something truly worthwhile, and make such a difference to people's lives.
Is this legitimate ?
We understand that you might think we could be anyone. So here are our bona fides, so you can check us out and reassure yourself that we are above board, legitimate and supported by our local churches.
